ONSPOT RELEASES MULTI STRAND CHAINWHEELS

FOR

AUTOMATIC TIRE CHAIN SYSTEMS

Onspot of North America is pleased to announce the availability of 12 and 18 strand chainwheels and chainplates.  While the Company is making these wheels available, we DO NOT recommend them.  Onspot, the originator of the automatic chain system, finds the following DISADVANTAGES of multi strand chainwheels:

• The chain is smaller and wears out faster
• The performance deteriorates as the snow gets deeper
• The replacement cost is higher
• The "bite ability" is less as the chain link cross section is smaller
• Since the chain is a non directional flat link the overall traction is reduced compared to Onspot's traditional square cut twisted chain.

Onspot will continue to offer it's traditional 6 length, square cut twisted, through hardened, alloy chainwheels as standard as the Company knows that this chain yields the best overall traction.

For those customers who prefer multi strand chainwheels they are now available.
